Diagnosis: what to expect

Finding the cause of abnormal bleeding usually follows a clear sequence. Most of it can be started in a telehealth visit.

  1. Your history

Your bleeding pattern, medicines, pregnancy plans, and family history.

  2. Pregnancy test

Always first, because it changes everything that follows.

  3. Blood tests

Anemia, iron, thyroid, and other tests based on your history.

  4. Imaging and tissue

Ultrasound, then biopsy or hysteroscopy when needed.
