- Abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB)
- Bleeding from the uterus that is abnormal in amount, timing, duration, or regularity.
- Adenomyosis
- Lining-like tissue growing into the muscular wall of the uterus.
- Anovulation
- A cycle in which no egg is released.
- Endometrium
- The inner lining of the uterus, shed during a period.
- Endometrial ablation
- A procedure that destroys the uterine lining to reduce bleeding.
- Ferritin
- A blood test that reflects the body’s iron stores.
- Hysteroscopy
- Examining the inside of the uterus with a thin camera.
- Intermenstrual bleeding
- Bleeding between periods.
- Leiomyoma
- The medical term for a fibroid.
- Menopause
- Twelve months in a row without a period.
- PALM-COEIN
- The FIGO system for classifying causes of abnormal uterine bleeding.
- Progestin
- A medication that acts like progesterone.
- Tranexamic acid
- A non-hormonal pill that reduces heavy menstrual bleeding.
- Von Willebrand disease
- The most common inherited bleeding disorder.
